Euro 2016 is shaping up to be an interesting and exciting tournament with the success of all the home nations making it through into the last 16. Now with the first round of knock out games about to start it is with bated breath we wait to see who will go through and who will be sent home. However, here is a look at some of the weather conditions we can expect for the home nation games over the weekend and on Monday.

    Today (Saturday 25th June):
17:00 – Wales v Northern Ireland, Parc des Princes, Paris
A few scattered showers around Paris at the moment, but most of these showers are expected to ease away as we approach the evening keeping it mainly dry with sunny spells. Winds will be generally light with top temperatures around 18C.

    Monday 27th June:

20:00 – England v Iceland, Allianz Riviera, Nice
Any afternoon showers are likely to have died away in time for the start of the match to leave a dry and fine evening with sunny spells and patchy cloud. Temperatures will reach around 21C with just a gentle breeze.

If football is not the game for you, Monday also sees the start of another great sporting event, Wimbledon. Tennis is a much more weather dependent sport as was demonstrated at the AEGON Championships at Queens Club lately, where many of the matches were cancelled due to heavy showers.  It has been an extremely active few days of weather with widespread heavy and thundery downpours affecting much of the UK. So here is an update on how the weather is looking for the first few days of Wimbledon.

A good start to the tournament is expected, with Monday seeing mainly dry and fine conditions with sunny spells and just a small risk of an isolated light shower. Winds will be light with temperatures reaching around 21C. After a dry start on Tuesday, showery rain will move in from the west later in the morning with some heavy downpours possible in the afternoon. Wednesday will also see heavy rain spreading in from the west later in the day, but some play maybe possible early afternoon. The rest of the week looks a bit more settled with some drier conditions, although there will be the risk of passing showers at times.
